Central Elementary School

At Central Elementary School we strive daily to cultivate a community of responsible learners who feel empowered to direct their own learning, inspired to be curious, engaged with their community, and moved to show empathy and respect for others.  We are committed to creating collaborative and innovative learning experiences, through which students develop critical thinking skills, achieve or surpass the Common Core Standards, and develop lifelong learning habits and positive mindsets

Our vision is to create a highly-regarded elementary school where students, staff, and parents come together to inspire our students to reach their full potential academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and morally. We believe all students are capable of being leaders who take responsibility for their learning and their actions to improve their classroom, family, and/or community. We also believe that all students are creative and intelligent in their own ways.

State Reporting on Central School’s Performance

Last month, Our Superintendent Dr. Milliken sent out an update mentioning the California School Dashboard, which is a new public school performance reporting system that has results for both BRSSD and Central.  Please take some time to check it out!  I’m proud to share that BRSSD earned the highest ranking in academics, while Central students (and teachers) scored in the highest range in all four areas.

While student attendance is not a significant concern at Central, it is important to remember that when students are absent, they miss instruction, teachers have to take time to help them catch up, and the school loses $50/day in revenue.  These costs hold true regardless of the reason for absence and whether the absence is “excused” or not. As you think about your winter break arrangements, we want to stress the importance of sending your child to school every day unless they are ill.
